Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information TrustCaller ("we," "us," or "our") collects through trustcaller.com (the "Site") and the TrustCaller iOS app (the "App"), together the "Services," how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Numbers you look up
When you use the free lookup on the Site or in the App, we send the number to our lookup API to check it against community reports and FTC Do Not Call data. Web lookups are also throttled by IP address to prevent abuse; we don't build a profile tied to your identity from these lookups.
Reports you submit
When you report a number as spam, we store the number, the category and comment you provide, and an anonymous per-install identifier used only to prevent duplicate or abusive reports — not to identify you personally.
Payment information
The Site does not offer accounts or take payments. TrustCaller Plus subscriptions are purchased in the App and processed entirely by Apple — we never see your card details, only confirmation from Apple that a subscription is active.
Usage and device information
Like most websites, we collect standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and use Google Tag Manager and the Facebook SDK on the Site to understand usage and measure how people find us. These tools may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser.
2. How the iOS App Handles Your Call Data
Call blocking runs entirely on your device through Apple's Call Directory Extension: the list of blocked and identified numbers is downloaded to your phone, and iOS — not TrustCaller — decides whether to block or label a call. We never see your live call activity.
Live Caller ID Lookup (available with a TrustCaller Plus subscription) uses Apple's encrypted Live Caller ID Lookup protocol. Our servers answer these lookups without ever seeing who is calling you — Apple's protocol is specifically designed so the lookup provider can't observe the number being queried. Your call history stays on your device and is never uploaded to us.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide phone number lookups and show relevant risk information;
- To operate TrustCaller Plus subscriptions in the App;
- To maintain the shared spam-report database that powers lookups and the call-blocking directory;
- To prevent abuse, including rate-limiting lookups and reports;
- To understand aggregate usage of the Site and improve the Services;
- To respond to support requests you send us.
4. How We Share Information
We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Services — our hosting providers, Google (analytics), and Apple (App Store subscriptions and call frameworks);
- Other users, in aggregate and anonymized form — for example, a report you submit contributes to a number's public risk rating, but your identity is not shown alongside it;
- Law enforcement or other parties, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TrustCaller or others.
5. Data Retention
Spam reports and lookup counts are kept as long as they remain useful for identifying spam numbers, since they form the shared dataset the Services rely on. You can request deletion of information associated with you at any time — see Section 7.
6. Cookies and Analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies from Google Tag Manager and Facebook for analytics and to remember basic preferences. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; doing so may affect some Site functionality.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Request a copy or deletion of information associated with you by contacting us — see below;
- Disable notifications in the App through iOS Settings;
- Opt out of analytics cookies through your browser's privacy controls.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information (for example, under the CCPA or GDPR), including the right to request a copy of the data we hold about you or to ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.
8. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including relying on our hosting providers' and Apple's own security infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Site or App.
